Steward of Wallenberg Park

David Finkle has been an amazing Steward of Wallenberg Park: planting trees and committing to hand-watering them until they are established, reporting concerns with the proper city departments, pulling weeds, picking up branches, and cleaning up graffiti, and more!
Thank you for your hard work and stewardship David!

Welcome to our Student Ambassador!

The newest addition to our board is a Student Ambassador. High School student Zoe volunteered in the Wallenberg Park Kindness Garden before being nominated. She will help identify student perspectives, recruit and facilitate student volunteers, and work with WGNA to advocate on neighborhood issues.

Social Media Policy
Our Social Medial Policy was passed by WGNA's Board July 15, 2025.
WGNA Social Media Policy
General Content Guidelines
WGNA posts should focus on neighborhood-related topics such as local events, beautification efforts, community safety, and government updates directly relevant to Willow Glen residents. Occasionally, state-level updates may be included if they have a direct impact on the neighborhood.
Posts shall not include endorsements or opposition of any political candidates or parties. Content that addresses controversial or divisive social or political issues should be avoided. If there is uncertainty about a topic's appropriateness, the post should be reviewed and approved by the WGNA board prior to publication.
WGNA aims to provide a welcoming, inclusive platform. Posts should align with WGNA’s values of respect, civility, and constructive engagement. Content must remain positive, community-focused, and foster productive dialogue among residents.
WGNA reserves the right to delete or decline content that does not align with this policy.
Business Posting Guidelines
WGNA does not offer paid promotions or advertising space on its social media channels. However, posts about businesses may be shared under the following guidelines:
-
Community Relevance Requirement:
WGNA may feature or share content related to local businesses only when the content demonstrates a clear community benefit, including but not limited to:- The business is hosting or sponsoring a public event open to the community.
- The business is contributing to a neighborhood beautification or improvement effort.
- The business is making a donation (financial, in-kind, or service-based) to WGNA or a WGNA-sponsored event or initiative.
- The business is taking a leadership role in a neighborhood safety, charitable, or community-building event.
-
Equity and Fairness:
WGNA will make good-faith efforts to provide balanced exposure for businesses throughout the neighborhood and avoid favoritism. Selection criteria will be applied consistently to all business-related content. -
Partnering with the Willow Glen Business Association (WGBA):
WGNA recognizes the role of the WGBA in promoting local commerce. Whenever appropriate, WGNA will link to or share WGBA’s own promotional content.
Board Member Conduct on Social Media
Board members, when representing WGNA, must not make statements that conflict with WGNA’s mission, violate confidentiality, or endorse or criticize political candidates/parties/issues in WGNA posts.
While board members are free to express political opinions on their personal accounts, they should avoid making such statements in WGNA posts or in comments on WGNA posts.
Similarly, board members should not post inflammatory or disparaging remarks about news, public figures, or community matters in WGNA-managed spaces.
Additionally, board members must refrain from engaging in public arguments, disputes, or negative commentary on social media related to WGNA affairs, fellow board members, community members, or broader neighborhood issues.
Commenting and Moderation Policy
To maintain a respectful and productive online environment, WGNA shall enforce the following comment guidelines:
- Comments must be respectful, constructive, and/or courteous.
- Disagreements should focus on issues, not people.
- Comments should be relevant to the topic of the post.
- Comments containing spam, knowingly false or unverified information, or advertisements will be removed.
- Personal attacks, defamatory or discriminatory remarks, hate speech, or disparaging comments about current or former board members are not permitted. Violations may result in comment removal and, in repeated cases, restrictions or bans.
- Users who repeatedly violate these guidelines may be muted, restricted, or blocked.
- Respectful, truthful, and constructive dissenting opinions will not be removed, even if they express disagreement.

Did you know Willow Glen Business Association (WGBA) manages a Community Benefit and Improvement District (CBID) on and around Lincoln Ave?
This year it was extended from Minnesota Ave, all the way down to Coe Ave!
The CBID allows WGBA to act fast and focus hard on issues - rather than waiting for City Hall to get things done to maintain, promote, and improve Downtown Willow Glen:

Maren Sederquist
I began my term as President of the Willow Glen Neighborhood Association (WGNA) in January 2025, after serving on the board for four years. I'm honored to take on this role and excited to continue supporting our incredible neighborhood. I summarize our goals under three pillars: Safety, Beauty, and Community. Through initiatives like neighborhood watch groups, community clean-ups, informative meetings, and fun local events, I aim to bring neighbors together and foster a more connected, resilient Willow Glen.
Volunteering has always been a big part of my life, but I truly found my stride serving on the PTA at my kids’ school. Over the years, I held several leadership positions—including webmaster, financial secretary, membership chair, and president—each focused on expanding engagement and building inclusive participation. As chair of the School Site Councils, I dug deep into district-wide policy and led efforts to enhance safety across all campuses.
Professionally, I’m a Medical Exercise Specialist, helping individuals with health challenges find safe, effective ways to stay active and improve their well-being. I'm also currently pursuing a Master of Public Health to deepen my understanding of community wellness and preventative care, with the goal of broadening my impact.
I love to help people, and get things done—and I look forward to working with all of you to keep Willow Glen thriving.
