We've Been Busy!

Willow Glen Neighborhood Association has been busy!

Check out what we've been up to, read important information about SB 79, and plan to attend our next meeting to learn about Native Plants this Tuesday. Come say hi to us on Lincoln Ave during VivaCalleSJ on Sunday too!

CM Mulcahy

Thank you to CM Mulcahy, the Trash Punks, and the many volunteers who stepped up for D6!

Lincoln Ave from the Coe Bridge to 280 looks much nicer now. :-)

Watch for the bridge to be painted in October, thanks to the City of San Jose, D6 CM Mulcahy, and Glenside-Riviera Neighborhood Association!

Rosetti

Thank you to SJ Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services, and WGNA Member Tony Rossetti.

The Iris Garden on Three Creeks Trail has been cleaned out and trimmed!

And keep an eye out for our next one!

SB 79

WGNA supports local control over zoning and land use, including decisions about building height and housing density. WGNA also supports public hearings where residents can provide feedback regarding proposed developments.

We support San Jose’s General Plan, which concentrates new housing along major streets and near transit corridors—not on narrow residential streets that lack the infrastructure to handle increased traffic and parking demand.

SB 79 would undermine this approach by eliminating public hearings and allow buildings up to six stories within a 1/2 mile from bus stop (including mid-block between single family houses). These developments would be automatically approved eliminating city council and planning commission public hearings.

Read the Senate Bill 79 here.

Related to this, AB 2097 passed in 2022, eliminating parking requirements for new developments along bus lines.

SB 79 has already passed the state senate and will be voted on next week in the state assembly.

Please join us in contacting your Assemblymember to oppose SB 79 and protect our community’s voice in how we grow.
