Position Paper - San Jose General Plan

WGNA supports the goals of Envision San José 2040, but opposes the proposal to increase residential density in single-family neighborhoods to 32 units per acre across the entire City of San José.

Position Paper

The Planning Commission is recommending that staff prepare General Plan amendments and ordinances including:

  • Increase residential capacity through the following actions:
  • Small Multifamily/Missing Middle Housing
    • Increase the allowable density in the Residential Neighborhood land-use designation from 8 dwelling units per acre to 32.
    • Allow a maximum building height of 35 feet and three stories in areas designated Residential Neighborhood.
