To respond to questions received around vacancy and rents:
Here is the Q1 report from the Housing Department that includes rent and vacancy data. Vacancy in San José is quite low compared the national average. Below 5% typically indicates a tight supply and high demand. Between 5% to 8% is usually considered a healthy market.
Vacancy Rates:
- SJ Average – 3.8%
- CA Average – 5.3%
- US Average - 7.3%

Make Music Day
Celebrated on June 21, Make Music San José coincides with festivities in more than one thousand cities worldwide as part of Make Music Day. The day’s idea is to share the joy of making music with everyone who wants to take part, from professional to amateur musicians and the musically curious.
The Make Music San José website will feature performances throughout the city on Sunday, June 21. Events will be held throughout San Jose at community centers, parks, restaurants, museums, and more.
Being a part of Make Music San José locally and Make Music Day globally is an opportunity for us to come together in spirit and celebrate the music that brings us joy.
