About WGNA

Our Mission

The Willow Glen Neighborhood Association (WGNA) is a grassroots community organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in our neighborhood of San José, CA. WGNA is a non-profit 501(c)(4) organization established in 1973.

You can read more about the workings of WGNA in our Bylaws and Policies.

If you are a resident of Willow Glen, please get involved!

The Willow Glen Neighborhood Association Board of Directors meets monthly to set our calendar, plan events, monitor our financial status, and hear concerns or announcements from our members.

We also host at least two general membership meetings annually, which have included guest speakers from city/county departments, local community groups, and Willow Glen residents. Your participation is both welcome and encouraged.  Starting in June 2016, there have been guest speakers for every month into the present.  There's typically a break, and no meeting for the month of December.  The WGNA Annual Meeting & Election, corresponding with the term year for the new Board of Directors, occurs in the month of May.

See our Meetings page for the full schedule of public meetings, as well as agendas, minutes, and presentations from board meetings.  Additional information can also be found at the News (blog) page.

Many of WGNA's past and present board members have first became involved because of their own personal passion for volunteerism. If you have a cause you'd like to fight for, whether it be preserving the environment, funding our schools, keeping our neighborhood clean, or advocating for city services, WGNA needs your opinions in order to form a collective voice that accurately represents the neighborhood that we love and care for so much.

Visit the volunteer page and sign up to help in some of our more common causes, or you can let us know what you're most passionate about and we'll let you know when something might come up. The News page also includes volunteer opportunities with some great organizations that WGNA works with on a regular basis, or please email us, if not ask one of the board members at our next board meeting.

WGNA Media Development, Contributions, & Participation

Since WGNA's 2016-2017 Board of Directors term, we have been working at restoring the organization's media devices and applications.  Our goal is to make information activities more sharable, and up-to-date, as well as to restore and preserve items that are of historical and archival interest, whether they relate directly to the organization, or the community at large.

The organization has been on its current website at WGNA.net, and social media since, since about 2013.  This includes Facebook, Twitter, email accounts and other miscellaneous applications.  We are working to restore and post the past records, as well as update current systems in order to make WGNA more transparent, and participatory.

We appreciate your feedback, which you can share to the Board of Directors, and the WGNA Media Committe.

To contact WGNA Board of Directors by email, please use the new WGNAnet@gmail.com.

To share media content on all the social networking pages and our website, please contact editor.wgna@gmail.com.
