WEST VALLEY COLLEGE WOMEN’S SOCCER TEAM PLAY TO RAISE MONEY FOR CANCER RESEARCH

The West Valley College Women’s Soccer team is raising money for cancer research, awareness for early detection and to share our knowledge on cancer fighting tips.  The soccer team of 15 women will dedicate their game for this cause on Friday, October 31st at 1:30 PM against Foothill College at West Valley College.

T-shirts ($20.00) and wrist bands ($3.00) will be sold at the game and also after the game until December 5, 2014.  Designed with a pink soccer ball and pink Breast Cancer ribbon, the t-shirts and wrist bands support both Breast Cancer research and the WVC Women’s Soccer team. After the game, t-shirts and wrist bands can be purchased in the PE division office.

Head Coach, Jennifer Kerwin, is returning for her nineteenth season as head coach for the West Valley College Women’s Soccer Program. She was named coast conference coach of the year in 2002, 2004, and 2013. Jennifer holds a USSF “B” License and NSCAA National Diploma. Jennifer has a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education/Athletic Training from Canisius College and a Master’s Degree in Physical Education from the University of New Mexico.

The goals of the coaching staff are to develop the student athletes so that she can compete both academically and athletically at a four-year institution. Each year the program gets stronger and continues to grow and develop, especially with the dedication and enthusiasm of the coaching staff.
