SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA

The Neighborhood Commission of the City of San Jose convened in a Public Hearing at 6:30 p.m. in Wing Room 118-119 of City Hall

 

Present:                     Nearly all members…   less one open seat in District 9

                                    Ernest Guzman – Community Services Supervisor (Staff facilitator)

 

Welcome:                  Vice Mayor Judy Chirco (Council liaison to the Commission)

                                    Addresses the Commission

 

Presentation:                        Parks Dept. presents summary of Green Print plan for San Jose

                                    ( www.sjparks.org/greenprint )

 

Discussion:               Commission Bylaws first draft – to City Attorney for final review

                                    Back for Commission review and vote next meeting.

 

Election of Chair:     4 candidates applied and spoke:   Bob Boydston, Beth Shafran-

                                    Mukai, Russ Petruzzelli, Aaron Resendez.    A ballot vote was

                                    taken and Beth Shafran-Mukai was elected Chair by over a

                                    2/3rds majority.

Vice Chair:                4 candidates applied and spoke:   Charles Jones, Larry Ames,
Christopher Zhou, Matthew Whalin    
A ballot vote was taken and Christopher Zhou was elected Vice Chair.

Work Plan:                Ernest Guzman and Chair Beth Shafran-Mukai lead a discussion
                                    of issues and process to be considered by the Commission; to
                                    be continued next meeting.

Next Meeting:           October 14, 2009     City Hall  200 E. Santa Clara Street,
                                    San Jose   Wing Room 118-119  first floor.   
                                    Open to the public; validated parking.    Park in the basement level garage.

 

Note:                           The commission is made up of 30 members of the community.
                                    All represent neighborhoods throughout the city –
                                    3 representatives from each of the 10 Council districts in the City.
                                    All have been chosen by a neighborhood caucus process.
