re: District Boundaries
Dear Ms. O'Hearn,
The Willow Glen Neighborhood Association (WGNA), established by volunteers over 25 years ago to help represent the interests of the community, respectfully requests, when the City Council Boundaries are redrawn as part of the 2000 Redistricting, that the boundaries respect the integrity of established neighborhoods. We recognize that there are numerous conditions and constraints on the drawing of the lines, and we would like the non-division of neighborhoods to be one of those constraints. For example, residents in southern Willow Glen have felt "disenfranchised" for the past ten years, ever since the last redistricting when their area was carved out of the Council District that represents the rest of Willow Glen.
For your convenience, we include a map of the "boundaries" of Willow Glen, adapted from a City book of communities and neighborhood associations. We would appreciate it if the new City Council boundary lines are drawn such that this area falls entirely within a single District.
