Dear  Willow Glen Resident,

We are asking residents in your area to join with the Vector Control District and help protect your community from West Nile virus disease. Due to increased rainfall and abundant standing water, mosquito numbers are higher than normal in Santa Clara County. We are concerned because Northern California, especially Silicon Valley, has been predicted to be the epicenter of West Nile Virus activity this year.

Recent mosquito surveys of your neighborhood have revealed that there are significant numbers of the kind of mosquito that transmits West Nile virus.  The Vector Control District has found and treated some public areas that were producing mosquitoes, but many mosquitoes in your neighborhood are coming from backyard sources.  The District will continue to treat and control mosquitoes from these “public areas” like creeks and storm drains, but we need your help in eliminating mosquito development in back yard sources.  PLEASE HELP US CONTROL MOSQUITOES.

Please read the attached materials and do a thorough check of your yard to make sure you are not raising mosquitoes. If you do know of a possible mosquito source in your neighborhood, or are having a problem with mosquitoes, please contact us at the number listed below.

Thank you for helping us “Fight the Bite” of mosquitoes and West Nile virus.

Sincerely,

The Staff of the Santa Clara County Vector Control District
