WILLOW GLEN NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION BOARD MEETING MINUTES - 9/10/03
Minutes of August meeting not presented.
Members present: Hardy, Spence, Solinski, Luckhardt, Santomauro.
Helen introduced Hugh Graham whom she has appointed to the Board. Hugh will be monitoring the City Planning Dept. website and agendas for the Planning Commission.
Treasurer's Report: Income $716.96; expense: $105.40. Balance on hand 9/1/03: $10,011.08. Founders Day Account balance of $287.90 has been moved to Money Market Account and the Founders Day account is closed.
Presentation from Craig & Grant Architects re Albertson's project on Bird and Minnesota. The new store will be 50% larger; will move up 15 feet;; highest point is 37 feet back wall between store and condos will remain; not sure when destruction and construction will start but it will t take about a year. There will be 213 parking spaces and one entrance/exit on each street. Suvey of area will be conducted to determine noise mitigation issues. Collins Development is the owner of the shopping center. Other stores in center may upgrading as well. Have met w/condo owners; plan to meet w/homeowners
City/County Reports: Tony Filice (Yeager's office): Ken will be at the UNSCC meeting 9/17; Hervey Lane community will meet w/developer soon; staff asked for some revisions; one is the Riparian setback from creek. The Gateway Community Church (1952 Hicks Ave) will build 8 homes; community meeting went well; biggest concern is high enough house prices. There has been an application for 21 single family homes on east side of Almaden Road; anticipate significant redesign; no site development permit yet. Re Albertson's when they make application to the City the staff or Ken's office will take comments.
Committee Reports:
Lincoln Ave meeting: City services on Lincoln Ave (cleaning, garbage pickup) will be cut back due to budget cuts.
Tamien Towers issue is being reviewed tonight at the Planning Commission meeting. Larry and Ed are in attendance along with reps from 5 or 6 other neighborhood associations.
Willow Street Park Sign: Margaret stated that the sign while larger than necessary, does not create much of an obstacle to the view of the art piece. It could be discussed with the Parks Department rep if they are invited to our general meeting.
Hotline issues: A representative from the CA Wildlife Dept wants to give a presentation to WGNA about identification of different wildlife species in the Guadalupe/Los Gatos Creek waters, 209/946-6400x337
Palm Haven/Founders Day: Ellen reported there was a small turnout but the stream of visitors was steady and people were enjoying the day. WGNA sold $200 in products.
November General Meeting: no decision on topic yet; possibly parks issues or Tamien Towers
Newsletter: needs to be mailed by 10/22. Helen asked Board members to each contribute something in the way of an article by 10/15.
New Business:
Committee Volunteers:
Mary has agreed to serve on Willow Glen Beautification Committee;
Cathy and Ellen will join the WGBPA Holiday Committee;
Jim Spence is on the Parking Committee as well as TAC and Lincoln Ave. Committees.
Charley will attend the Airport Noise Monitoring committee and will get information to report on the Airport Curfew Committee. Margaret will manage the Hotline.
Larry does the Website and Parks Commission.
Ed will attend UNSCC meetings; Cathy will be back up.
Daffodil Bulb Planting we have 200 bulbs from SJ Beautiful to plant around Willow Glen. Please give suggestions to Helen about places to plant them.
