Re: Live Oak Adult Day Care Center

At a recent Willow Glen Neighborhood Association board meeting, Leta Frielander and Dr. Bob Hercshes from the Live Oak Adult Care Services explained their plans for the property at 1147 Minnesota Avenue. It became apparent, after a brief presentation by Ms. Frielander, that much care and thought has gone into the development of this project. Given the historical significance of the site, it is encouraging that Live Oak Adult Care Services intends to maintain as much of the integrity of the building as is possible, and that they are working with the Historical Commission and others to assure sensitivity to this home's notable past.

The use of the present structure as an adult day care facility is seen by the WGNA Board as appropriate and suitable. While not located within a residential area, the property is quite close to those in need of the services offered. Because Willow Glen has a large elderly population, we feel that this project will help to provide a needed service to our community.

The fact that there is adequate parking is important. The plans for a designated pick up and drop off area which removes potential traffic problems away from Minnesota is appreciated. While the WGNA Board does realize that Live Oak Adult Day Care Center plans on being closed in the evenings and on weekends, we do not foresee any problems in the future should they wish to hold meetings or occasional special events during these hours.

In conclusion, the Willow Glen Neighborhood Association is pleased to recommend the approval of this project and warmly welcomes the Live Oak Adult Day Care Center, its clients, management, and staff, to our community.

Sincerely,

Kris Cunningham, President
