re: endorsement of TFCA grant application for Los Gatos Creek Trail
Dear Ms. Rensi,
The Willow Glen Neighborhood Association (WGNA) strongly supports San Jose's proposed Transportation Fund for Clean Air (TFCA) grant application for the Los Gatos Creek Bicycle Trail bridge crossing to Gregory Street (at Fuller Avenue).
WGNA and its members have been actively supporting and promoting the Los Gatos Creek Trail for years, including participating in the Los Gatos Creek Trail Master Plan Task Force of 1985, proposing and implementing an Urban Stream Restoration Project along the Los Gatos Creek in 1993-'96 in conjunction with the extension of the trail into Willow Glen, and actively working with the City to stripe bike lanes on Willow Street to bring the trail through Willow Glen. The Trail is one of Willow Glen's most important recreational facilities, and it also serves alternative transportation needs. The proposed bridge will extend the trail towards downtown San Jose, and will tie Willow Glen and the surrounding neighborhoods into the fabric of the community. It is part of the final phase of the trail system that will finally give Willow Glen safe and convenient access to downtown without traffic congestion and parking complications.
We wholeheartedly support this project, and urge you to grant the application.
Thank you,
Kris Cunningham, President
