Re: Proposed amphitheater for County Fairgrounds
The Willow Glen Neighborhood Association Board has voted unanimously to oppose an amphitheater at the present county fairgrounds site. On nights where the right atmospheric conditions exist, noise from fairground activities is heard throughout our neighborhoods. The present roar of car races and the clarity of announcements emanating from the site, both serve to warn Willow Glen residents that a 20,000 seat amphitheater would be disruptive beyond the level most San Joseans are willing to endure. The lessons learned from Shoreline Amphitheater will not go unheeded.
While the Willow Glen Neighborhood Association recognizes and respects the need to seek profitable improvements of this large land parcel, we firmly believe that there are no satisfactory mitigations that can be offered for an open air entertainment facility located in the middle of a populated area. When this proposed project is discussed in the future, we would appreciate notification so that we can keep our community informed of developments and offer Willow Glen residents the opportunity to voice their opinions.
Sincerely,
Kristina Cunningham
