re: Blewett Ave. Traffic Calming
Dear Review Team,
The Willow Glen Neighborhood Association (WGNA) has voted unanimously at our last meeting to support the Blewett Ave. Association in their application for a CAP Grant to help implement various neighborhood enhancement and traffic-calming measures. WGNA has worked with the residents of Blewett Ave. for years to help them solve their traffic issues – they live on a residential street that is used as a bypass around the congested parallel Lincoln Avenue in downtown Willow Glen. The residents on Blewett have worked with the City of San Jose to devise various traffic-calming measures, but the City’s finances are not conducive to a timely implementation. Assuming the City passes an ordinance that will enable Public/Private partnerships for the implementation of approved traffic-calming measures, the next step would be for the community to seek funding to help implement those measures: hence the Grant application. WGNA would like to see the traffic situation on Blewett solved, especially if it is done by the local residents with solutions accepted by the local residents.
The Grant application also proposes some community enhancements. These are designed to recognize some of the history along Blewett Avenue, as highlighted in WGNA’s Touring Historic Willow Glen book.
We urge you to grant the CAP Grant request to enable the residents to implement their traffic-calming solutions and community enhancements.

Thank you,
Dr. Lawrence Lowell Ames, WGNA President
