the ballot for the election of the 2007 WGNA Board included two survey questions that asked the WGNA membership about appropriate uses of the eList.
Question 1: How much commerce would you like to see allowed on the eList?
The following are the percentages of respondents who feel the eList should allow the posting of:
62%: announcements of “personal sales” (sale of own car, open house, golf-clubs, whatever)
56%: special event sales (holiday boutiques, etc.)
45%: local in-house for-profit services (daycare, tax accounting, etc.)
62%: non-profit fundraising: races, tours, etc.
79%: special events: book signings, coffee-shop concerts.
73%: special events: Farmers Market, Halloween, etc.
29%: sales events: half-price sales at local stores, etc.
Question 2: How much “politics” would you like to see on the eList?
67%: non-political or non-partisan (e.g., candidate forums) only
51%: announcement of elected official or candidate appearances at “non-political” events
33%: announcement of official or candidate appearances at public fund-raising events
